The controversy still continues on New Zodiac Signs.The introduction of new zodiac sign “Ophiuchus” on one hand and the statement that all previous astrological signs have also shifted got criticised more than they were accepted.
The entire event initiated when Parke Kunkle of The Minnesota Planetarium Society put out a statement that the gravitational pull of the moon has made shift in the Earth’s axis resulting in shifts of astrological signs along with introduction of 13th one.
The new zodiac sign got it’s representation with a man holding a snake.The sign actually depicts “Imhotep” of Egypt.The snake held by him shows a symbol of medicine.

The new signs affect everyone, not starting in any particular year or after. It may be hard to swallow, but the changes have been going on for a long time, stars shifting. It’s silly to think that it doesn’t affect you. According to Sidereal astrology you don’t have a new sign…your sign wasn’t what you thought it was to begin with. Whether you want to acknowledge that or just stick to Western astrology is your call, but according to Sidereal astrology most ALL of us are of a different sun sign/moon sign, etc- not only those born after this year or that.

Double check your stats, so the earth shifts at certain times. Then it should only affect those born after the shifts. As with everything there is the old and the new, so shall there be with the zodiac. You,ll just have to date them, if you were born before or after the shift in the earth. As the end of time draws closer, we will discover there is so much more appearing before our eyes then we’ll be able to timely record. Think not of this world but what is ahead of it and none of this will matter.

When scientists discover something new, it doesn’t just apply from then on. For example, condsider the development of the model of the atom. Thompson created the “plum pudding model”: the electrons and protons were spread out throughout the atom and the neutron hadn’t been discovered. That doesn’t mean that all atoms during his time had no neutrons. Same logic applies in this case. Just because we didn’t know about the sign doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. We can’t simply ignore the change in signs because we have grown acustomed to the one we thought we belonged too.

Y’know, years ago in an astronomy (not astrology) class we learned all about this. Years ago I learned that, when I was born, the sun was in Sagittarius, not Capricorn. (My newspaper had been lying to me all my life.)
I also learned that I don’t care either way, and that it really doesn’t matter. Choose to be whatever astrological sign you like! The constellation the sun was in 2000 years ago? Go for it. Pisces because you like fish? Who cares that you were born in November?

The funny thing about all this is, if you’re really into astrology you look up your star chart. Everyone is influenced by most of the signs in their star charts (12 houses), and everyone actually has three signs – Sun Sign (the dates the Zodiac cover), the Moon Sign and the Ascendant (the sign on the horizon when you were born).
So even if this new information is correct, I don’t think it changes much of anything that we know about astrology. So I think it’s silly that everyone gets up in arms about it…especially when there’s far worse news in the world to get upset over.

As with most things, I’m sure that those of us who were born before the shift, will be “grandfathered” into the old signs. Those born after, will follow the new zodiac chart. You can’t change what has already happened. This is how I see it, anyway.
That doesn’t work. What has happened is that we were born with a sign other than what Western astrology says we are. Some just haven’t known, or bothered to research and find out.
The information is out there, I’m simply choosing not to count it as ‘factual’ until more research is done. So for now, i’m Aquarius. Just like i’ve always been.

It doesn’t really say what happens if you are born on a change date, like me. I’m a Feb 16th. What does this say for me? Am i still an Aquarius? Capricorn? 13 days of the year are left to question.

When they change the normal calendar from 12 months to 13 months, then I will follow the new zodiac.

Whats the fuss. Do those distant constellations affect you at birth? There are too far away to have an effect on the fetus. Laws of Physics say the forces are very negligible. Its what happens in the womb that shapes our personality.

Now that I see this does not effect me cuz I was born way before 2009. It does not bother me as much. However.. If it did effect me I would pretend that it does not exist like alot of folks do not believe in say Aliens. Cuz I am a Virgo and will always be a Virgo. There is not one trait about me that says Leo.
And I am waiting for the 13th month to be named too then see what we have. And I agree there are far worse things to concern ourselves with but I enjoy reading everyones point of view.
astrology is a science. your birth/sun sign is only representative of one of ten facets of your astrological profile. if you are looking to the stars for self discovery then it only makes sense to look at all your houses. and with all the advancements in technology this really only opens up a whole new world of possibilities. everything changes.
If some people actually look at anything that has been said..they say that it has changed because of the earths alignment has been changed over the last 3000 years (which is this year). so in return they have seen that new star sign and have made it a zodiac sign because back ib 11B.C. there has been said that some guy found that sign back then but over the years it was hiding behind the sun until now I which they decided to make it a sign since they have found it now due to the earths axis being moved. and if so the 2009 thing is real about that you have to be born after it then keep the zodiac sign that you are/were. but if the 2009 isn’t real then just learn to live with the new signs.

Tarot cards, zodiacs, and fortune telling were used to entertain the wealthy 100s of years ago. It continues to be a form of entertainment and not meant to be taken so serious. The Chinese zodiac is based on a 12 year cycle so you cant say that everyone born in an entire year have the exact same personality! It’s entertainment people!
Hearing this reminds me of playing final fantasy 9, hunting down the 12 stelazzio coins, one for each of the constellations. Once you collected those 12 the collector would tell you that there was one more ‘secret’ stelazzio. the 13th coin was called Ophiuchus. Only today do i finally realise the significance of the name… I think this is a good thing all round.
I find it odd how many people jump on this blog to critisize it without even truely reading what it says.. yes the universe has been here for a long time, much longer than us, and so have most of the stars and planets.. but the part some of you arent reading is the science of it, which is the earth “USED” to be in an orbital pull which only laid us to rest under 12 star constelations in the sky, but over time the earth “much like a top spinning” has moved ever so slightly which now allows us to clearly see a constalation we couldnt before. which would by the zodiac law, change the zodiac.. Belive or not, like it or not, accept it or not. It shouldnt affect your personal life and mental stability as much as some of you are letting it.
As I read these comments. I am struck by how similar they are to many comments that were made about human origins during the ‘acceptance’ period of the Theory of Evolution. If you read about the history surrounding the Scopes Monkey Trial (aka The State of Tennessee v. Scopes) in 1925. You find comments made by people that are just as ignorant, stubborn, and uneducated as a lot of the ones here. You can’t stop the truth of new discoveries by ignoring them.
The only real constant in this world is change. You either accept it, or you become obsolete.
isnt our zodiac (sun) sign determined by which constellation the SUN is in (at birth)? if so, Earth’s position, rotation, etc would not effect sun signs-right?
The reason that this effects people so much is because you are forcing them to change something they believe in so much. It is like telling someone your name is John, then out of the blue telling them they are wrong, your name is Kale. It is difficult to grasp, it feels like you’ve been lied to all your life.
It does effect people, changeing the Zodiac, is like changing a religion. it is what people believe in.
Dont judge harshly because people dont like the change, just because green is the new black doesnt mean people will wear it.
Also some people’s JOBS rely on this. This that we are debating will determin their lives. If we agree with the old, that wont need to change everything that they know. If we agree to change, so many things will change for them.
Even if YOU dont believe in something, doesnt mean someone else doesnt. If you dont care about this, then dont try to make people feel bad, or stupid, for haveing something they believe in.
The zodiac signs are determined by the SUN’S position in the different constellations…not a wobble in the earth’s axis…the guy obviously has not studied traditional astrology….I am definitely an Aquarian….no ifs, ands or buts about that….
I personally think its pretty fun to get a new sign, so even if this didnt apply to all that are born after 2009, itd be fun.

I was born on february 21st 83 and have always considered myself a pisces with aquarian traits, as I was born on the cusp. Howver, I have always related more to the aquarian characteristics so I kind of believe that this is for everyone and not just for those born in 09′ and up! For one thing, it says:

I’m not really sure what to think about all of this. I have been studying astrology for over 15 years and have always been faithful to it. The funny thing is, my daughter was born on my very birthday, within the same exact hour as me too! Just kinda happened that way. I was very surprised and shocked that we’re the same sun/rising/and moon. But now….she just might be a very different person than me after all. How about that?
Libra huh… I’m not quite used to it, but i think since I’m a Scorpio, i will just stick to Scorpio. because the thing is, i found out that the personality mentioned about a Scorpio is exactly what i am now. only we, ourselves can know our own personality very well, right? so, i think that the new zodiac… hm… i dunno, but well, for me, in my opinion, the horoscope is only base on the moon, sun and stars. i think sticking to the old one is better, so i will just go for the old one.

Whether or not this is true, I still think people are much too complex to be explained by the zodiac signs. I think the astrologers (do u call them that?), the really good ones anyway, not only know their zodiac but have a certain way of reading people as well. And I think their readings may not necessarily be solely based on the zodiac or whatever it is.
anyone familiar with the term self-fulfilling prophesy? I liked reading about being born under the zodiac sign Aquarius, and though I wasn’t really sure if it did describe me at the time, I liked the description, and I eventually believed it enough for it to come true.
So I think in my case, the discovery came too late.
i already grew up thinking I’m an Aquarian, and an Aquarian I would stay. 
Oh wait, I might’ve been thinking of fortune tellers, not astrologers. Oh well, who cares? Haha.

Ok, so your sign is determined by when and where you were BORN in relation to the alignment of the planets. People need to remember that.

The astrological signs were put in place thousands and thousands of years ago, the position of our planet and the position of the stars have shifted significantly since then in the past few thousand years. So if your a couple thousand years old then it wouldnt apply to you, but your not so it does
